ACE CertAbout Nordic Walking CO.

The Nordic Walking CO was formed to bring the joy and pleasure of Nordic walking to the general public. What many Europeans have known for a long time to be a fun, flexible and effective form of walking is relatively new to the United States. Nordic Walking CO was formed in Colorado, the most active state in the country, to enhance the outdoor and fitness activities of its vibrant population as well as to feed that population’s hunger for the newest and most effective fitness activities with which to enjoy and experience the unparalled beauty of the local environment. Nordic Walking CO provides a resource for education, equipment and training for walkers of any age and fitness level so they can quickly and conveniently get out the door and appreciate all the enjoyment this new sport has to offer.

I love Portland. It reminds of my home town of Boston, Massachusetts where I grew up. I came to the West Coast in 1978.

I was a runner in my youth and played tennis. I took up skiing in my adult years and had an opportunity to teach adults at Snow Summit, Big Bear,California.

I started walking after having my last child. I wanted to get back to fitness, but without experiencing injury.

Running increased stresses on my joints, lower back and overal body due to impact and repetitive motion.

A friend who was recovering from a running injury shared his story about racewalking and I became hooked doing ladder races and meeting enthusiastic walkers!! Then I heard about the Finnish technique here in Portland..

Nordic Walking is like taking an eliptical machine outside with you, it's easy, anyone can do it.. and I love burning all those calories!

My goal is simple, being fit to enjoy great Portland restaurants and "Happy Hours"! :)
